Curriculum
General music class, designed to give students a deeper
understanding of reading and interpreting music. The goal is to
establish a lifelong appreciation and understanding of music. We will:

play games to demonstrate note and rhythm reading abilities.

learn proper singing technique, stressing proper posture, breathing, diction, and tone production.

listen to music from different eras in history. We will also learn about other important historical and artistic achievements of the time. There will be a test over the material covered.

explore the many ways that the voice can be used for expressive purposes.

sing on the final concert of the semester (this is required for the class--50 points).

make music videos in groups (50 points). Students will need to work cooperatively to plan the setting, props, style, music choice, and duties of each student in the group.
Felten 6th Grade students taking Music Class this semester will
perform on the Felten Winter Concert, December 13. Concert starts at
7:00 in the FMS Gym. Be in the music room at 6:30.
Felten 6th Grade students taking Music Class next semester will perform on the Felten Spring Concert, May 17. Concert starts at 7:00 in Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center on the FHSU campus. Meet on the stage at 6:30.
Kennedy 6th Grade students taking Music Class this semester will
perform on the Kennedy Winter Concert, December 14. Concert starts at
7:30 at 12th Street Auditorium. Meet on the stage at 6:30.
Kennedy 6th Grade students taking Music Class next semester will perform on the Kennedy Spring Concert, May 16. Concert starts at 7:30 at 12th Street Auditorium. Meet on the stage at 7:00.
Attire for concerts--For men: Black pants or khakis, nice shirt and shoes, tie preferred
For ladies: Dress or a nice skirt and
shirt, black dress pants are allowed.
No flip-flops, perfume, or cologne.
